The role closes itself
Set a closing date or a submission cap in Settings and the form stops accepting applications on its own. A posting that is still live three weeks after the role was filled collects applications nobody will read, which costs the applicant more than it costs you.

What goes wrong with this form
Specific to a job application form, not general advice about forms.
A CV over 200 KB
Attachments are stored inside the response, which caps them at 200 KB per file. A design-heavy PDF will exceed that. Say so in the field label, or add a URL field and ask for a link — discovering the limit is the applicant's problem otherwise, and you lose the candidate rather than the file.
Different questions for different candidates
The comparison only works if everyone answered the same thing. Once you start asking follow-ups by email, shortlisting stops being reading a column and goes back to reconstructing threads — which is the problem the form was meant to solve.
Roles as free text
A dropdown of the roles you are hiring for makes applications sort themselves before you read them. Typed role names produce "Frontend", "front-end engineer" and "FE dev" for one job, and you will be grouping them by hand.
Asking for everything before you have read anything
Every extra required field costs you candidates at the top of the funnel, and most of what gets asked here is only needed once someone is shortlisted. Notice periods, references, salary expectations and right-to-work details can all wait for the conversation. Ask for what you screen on; ask for the rest of it later.

Can candidates upload a CV?
On a paid plan, yes, up to 200 KB per file — the CV is stored inside the application rather than uploaded separately, so it arrives attached instead of in a follow-up email. File fields are not available on the free plan. For a free form, a larger file, or a portfolio, add a URL field and ask for a link instead.
Is an employment application form free to use?
Yes. Building the form, collecting applications and exporting them to CSV are all on the free plan, and candidates never need an account to apply. The one part that is not free is the CV upload — file fields need a paid plan, so a free version of this form asks for a link in a URL field. If applications should not be readable by anyone holding the link, add a password in settings.
How do I stop accepting applications after the deadline?
Set a closing date, a maximum number of submissions, or both, in Settings under the response rules. The form closes itself when either is reached and shows a closed message instead of the fields, so you do not have to remember to take the posting down. Applications already submitted are unaffected — closing a form stops new responses, it does not hide the ones you have.
Where does an application go the moment someone submits it?
Into your responses list first, always — that is the record, and it is written before anything else is attempted. From there each application can also be POSTed to a webhook you own, which is on the free plan and is how most people push applications into an applicant tracking system. Delivery straight into Slack, Microsoft Teams, Notion, Airtable or a Google Sheet is available on paid plans, so the hiring channel sees a candidate without anyone opening the dashboard.
