Lead capture form

A lead form lives on a landing page and has four fields, not forty. This one captures what you need to follow up — name, email, company and what interested them — and nothing else. Shorten the form and you raise completion rates. Every field you add costs prospects at the top of the funnel, and the ones you lose are disproportionately the ones still exploring.

The form beside this text is live. Fill it in and submit it — it validates exactly as it would for a real respondent, and saves nothing.

Interest as a dropdown, not a free text box

A select field asking what the prospect cares about — pricing, a demo, integration — means every lead arrives pre-qualified and the follow-up conversation starts informed instead of generic. Free text produces "want to learn more" for everyone and tells you nothing.

Every response is timestamped to reach out in order

Leads are stored with the exact second they arrived, so when a campaign lands and three hundred arrive in an hour, the timestamps show who got there first — which is the question that decides outbound order.

No card required.

How to build this form

5 steps in the editor. Nothing here needs a paid plan.

  1. Add a short text field for first name and a required email field for work email — those two are what you need to reach back.
  2. Add a short text field for company name so you can research the prospect before you call.
  3. Add a dropdown asking what the prospect is interested in — pricing, a demo, integration details — so the follow-up conversation starts informed rather than generic.
  4. Add a dropdown for team size (1–10, 11–50, 51+) so a sales rep can match the pitch to the right plan.
  5. Add a phone field, left optional, and a dropdown asking how they heard about you — then export everything to CSV and start the calls.

What goes wrong with this form

Specific to a lead capture form, not general advice about forms.

More than four fields on the form

Every field you add costs you prospects, and the ones you lose are disproportionately the ones still exploring — the most likely to convert later. Stick to first name, email, company and interest. Anything else you want to know can wait for the conversation.

Interest as a free text field

A text box for "what brought you here" produces "want to learn more", "your product looks good", and vague interest you have to re-read for every lead. A dropdown with preset options — pricing, demo, integration, other — can be filtered by interest in the export, so follow-ups are informed before you dial.

No team size field to segment prospects

A dropdown for company size (1–10, 11–50, 51+, 100+) means a sales rep can start the call knowing roughly which plan makes sense rather than pitching the wrong tier to the wrong company. Free text for company size produces any answer and tells a rep nothing.

Questions about this form

How do I make a lead capture form?

First name and work email, company, interest area as a dropdown, and team size — four fields is usually the whole form. Every additional field costs you prospects at the top of the funnel, and the ones you lose are the ones still exploring. Keep it short.

Can leads reach my Slack channel or webhook?

Yes. Add a Slack or webhook destination in Settings and every lead posts to your channel or endpoint the moment it arrives, in addition to being stored in your dashboard. The response is still stored in Seagit even if the delivery fails, and everything exports to CSV.

Can I track where a lead came from?

Yes — add a dropdown asking how they heard about you (search, ad, referral, social) so the export shows which channel each lead came through. That tells you which campaigns to repeat. You can also append a hidden field set via URL parameter if a form is used across multiple pages or campaigns.
