Newsletter sign-up form

A newsletter sign-up form collects consenting email subscribers — it does not send the newsletter itself. That happens through your own email service, such as Mailchimp or Substack; this form collects the list and exports it to CSV. A required opt-in checkbox with clear language makes explicit that subscribers are agreeing to receive email from you.

The form beside this text is live. Fill it in and submit it — it validates exactly as it would for a real respondent, and saves nothing.

This form does not send email; your email tool does

The form collects and exports subscribers to CSV; you import that into your own email service and send from there — the form is the collection point, not the broadcaster.

Optional interest tags make segmentation easy later

When subscribers pick a topic, you can export subsets later and send targeted emails per topic instead of one broadcast to everyone.

No card required.

How to build this form

5 steps in the editor. Nothing here needs a paid plan.

  1. Add a required email field, so every row has a valid address.
  2. Add an optional name field, so you can personalise emails with a greeting.
  3. Add an optional select field for topics of interest, so you can segment later.
  4. Add a required checkbox with explicit opt-in language and mention of unsubscribing.
  5. Export the CSV and import it into your own email service to send the actual newsletter.

What goes wrong with this form

Specific to a newsletter sign-up form, not general advice about forms.

An opt-in checkbox that is too vague

Avoid generic "I agree to the terms" language — be explicit about what they are signing up for and mention they can unsubscribe at any time.

Asking subscribers to confirm their email a second time

One email field is enough. If you want to verify the address, use a double opt-in flow in your email service after import, not a second field on this form.

Assuming the form sends newsletters for you

This form collects a CSV; it does not integrate automatically with your email service. Export and import manually, or automate the transfer with a separate tool.

Questions about this form

Does this form send newsletters automatically?

No. It collects subscriber emails and exports them to CSV. You import that into your own email service and send the actual newsletters from there.

Can I segment subscribers by interest?

Yes, if you add an optional interest select field — export the CSV and sort by topic to send different content to different groups.

What is the difference between this and a contact form?

A contact form collects a one-off message you respond to individually. A newsletter sign-up collects only an email and consent, since you will send broadcast content to everyone on the list.
